Project Zomboid server guide

Change sandbox settings on a Project Zomboid server

Open Server Config → Sandbox Settings in HaruHost. It reads servertest_SandboxVars.lua, groups the settings by section, shows each one's options and default, and includes your mods' options. Save, then restart the server.

The sections

  • General: population, time, utilities, loot, nature, vehicles and character settings.
  • Zombie Lore: speed, strength, toughness, infection, senses and behavior.
  • Zombie Config: exact population multipliers, peak day, respawn and groups.
  • Multiplier Config: XP for every skill.
  • Map and Basement, plus one section per mod.

An existing world

Most sandbox settings apply to an existing world at the next start. Some only shape new parts of the map as they load, such as loot already spawned or buildings already looted; those apply to areas nobody has visited yet.

Questions

Do I need to wipe the world to change sandbox settings?

No. Change them and restart. Settings that decide what spawns affect areas loaded after the change.
