Loot settings and loot respawn on a Project Zomboid server

Each loot category has its own multiplier from 0 to 4, such as Food Loot New, Weapon Loot New and Ammo Loot New. For loot respawn, set Hours For Loot Respawn above 0; containers in towns then refill after that many in-game hours.

Loot per category

  • Food Loot New 0.8 and Canned Food Loot New 0.6.
  • Weapon Loot New 0.6, Ranged Weapon Loot New 1.2 and Ammo Loot New 0.6.
  • Medical Loot New, Skill Book Loot, Literature Loot New, Mechanics Loot New, Tool Loot New, Clothing Loot New, Container Loot New and more, 0.6 by default.
  • Key Loot New 0.4.

These are Build 42's names; each ranges from 0 to 4. The game advises leaving Rolls Multiplier alone.

Loot respawn

  • Hours For Loot Respawn: in-game hours before looted containers in towns refill. 0, the default, turns it off.
  • Max Items For Loot Respawn: containers with this many items or more don't refill, 5 by default.
  • Seen Hours Prevent Loot Respawn: no refill where players have been recently.
  • Construction Prevents Loot Respawn and Safehouse Prevents Loot Respawn (Server Settings): no refill in bases.

Looted buildings and diminishing loot

  • Maximum Looted and Days Until Maximum Looted: buildings that are already looted when found.
  • Maximum Diminished Loot and Days Until Maximum Diminished Loot: less loot as the days pass.
  • Loot Item Removal List: items that never spawn.

Questions

Does more loot apply to buildings already visited?

Loot spawns when an area first loads, so higher rarity shows in new areas. With loot respawn on, refilled containers use the new values.
