Spawn points and starting items on a Project Zomboid server

Spawn Regions chooses the towns players can pick at character creation, and Spawn Points lists exact places in them. To send everyone to one spot, set Spawn Point in Server Settings to x,y,z coordinates. Spawn Items gives new players items to start with.

Spawn towns and points

  • Spawn Regions edits servertest_spawnregions.lua: the towns offered when a player creates a character.
  • Spawn Points edits servertest_spawnpoints.lua: exact spawn places by profession.

One spawn for everyone

Spawn Point in Server Settings takes x,y,z world coordinates, which you can find on the community map at map.projectzomboid.com. 0,0,0 means it is off.

Starting items

  • Spawn Items (Server Settings): item types new players get, separated by commas, such as Base.Axe,Base.Bag_BigHikingBag.
  • Starter Kit (Sandbox Settings): chips, a water bottle, a small backpack, a baseball bat and a hammer.

Respawning

Safehouse Allow Respawn lets players respawn in their safehouse after dying.

Questions

Can players still choose their town?

Yes, unless Spawn Point is set. It sends every new player to the same place.
