Nothing to forward with the Tunnel
- Choose Tunnel on the Connection step when you create the server. For an existing server, turn the Tunnel on from its Details tab.
- Pick the region closest to your players.
- Start the server. Friends add the address from the Details tab to their Favorites and join; see how friends join.
No router or firewall settings to change, on Windows or Linux.
Ports are handled for you
HaruHost gives every server its own ports, with the Tunnel or without it, so two servers never clash and you never set one by hand. Server Settings marks them Set by HaruHost, the Details tab lists them under Ports In Use, and the RCON port stays private.
Hosting on your own address
- The ports: DefaultPort, the port players connect to, over TCP and UDP, and UDPPort, the next port, over UDP.
- On Windows: turn on Auto-manage UPnP and HaruHost opens the server's ports on your router when it starts; Auto-manage Firewall adds the Windows Firewall rules. Or forward your port range once; HaruHost shows the rule under Devices → Manage device → Network Settings.
- On a VPS: open your port range for TCP and UDP in the provider's firewall; HaruHost shows it under Devices → Manage device → Network Settings.
Questions
My friends get "connection failed". What do I check?
That they use the address and port from the Details tab and that the server finished starting. On your own address, check that both ports are forwarded for the right protocols, or turn on the Tunnel and skip forwarding.
What ports does a Project Zomboid server use?
16261 (TCP and UDP) and 16262 (UDP) by default. HaruHost gives each server its own pair; with the Tunnel none needs forwarding.
