Nothing to forward with the Tunnel
- Install HaruHost on Ubuntu with the one-command install, which runs it as a service.
- Create the ARK: Survival Evolved server and choose Tunnel on the Connection step.
- Start the server. Players find it by name in the in-game server list and join, from any network.
No router, firewall or provider settings to change, and clusters transfer between maps too. See hosting without port forwarding.
Ports are handled for you
HaruHost gives every server its own ports, so two maps never use the same port and you never set one by hand, with the Tunnel or without it. The Details tab lists them under Ports In Use. The RCON port stays private.
Hosting on your own address
- The ports: ARK uses a game port, the port after it and a query port, all UDP. Ports In Use shows the ones HaruHost gave the server.
- On Windows: turn on Auto-manage UPnP and HaruHost opens each server's ports on your router when it starts; Auto-manage Firewall adds the Windows Firewall rules. Or forward your port range once; HaruHost shows the rule under Devices → Manage device → Network Settings.
- On a VPS: open your port range for UDP in the provider's firewall; HaruHost shows it under Devices → Manage device → Network Settings.
Questions
What ports does an ARK: Survival Evolved server use?
The game port and the next one up, 7777 and 7778 by default, and the query port, 27015 by default, all UDP. With HaruHost, each server gets its own ports, and with the Tunnel none need forwarding.
Do I need to forward the RCON port?
No. HaruHost reaches RCON on the same machine, so keep it closed.
