ARK: Survival Evolved server guide

Preaquatica or Latest on an ARK: Survival Evolved server

HaruHost offers two ARK: Survival Evolved versions: Preaquatica and Latest. Pick one when you create the server, or change it later with Change branch on the server's Details tab and then press Update. Players need the game on the same version to join.

Pick it when you create the server

The version step lists Preaquatica and Latest. HaruHost downloads the server on that branch, on Windows and Linux.

Switch later

  1. Open the server's Details tab.
  2. Next to Branch, choose Change branch and pick the version.
  3. Press Update. Changing the branch only sets the version; the update downloads it.
  4. Start the server.

Players on the same version

A player on Preaquatica can only join a Preaquatica server, and a player on the latest version a Latest server. In Steam, players choose the branch in ARK: Survival Evolved's Properties → Betas.

Every map of a cluster

Put every map of a cluster on the same version, so players can move between them.

Questions

Why can't my friends see or join my Preaquatica server?

Their game is on another version. They choose Preaquatica under Betas in the game's Steam properties, or you switch the server to Latest.

Does switching the branch keep my world?

The world stays in the server's saves when the branch changes. Make a backup first in case the other version can't load it.
