ARK: Survival Ascended server guide

ARK: Survival Ascended server settings

HaruHost shows an ARK: Survival Ascended server's GameUserSettings.ini, Game.ini and launch options as cards with sliders, switches and lists, grouped by topic and searchable by name. In Server Config the Files tab shows the same files as text, and an edit on either side shows on the other.

Server Config and Auto Config

  • Server Config, on new and imported Windows servers: the cards are read from the server's own files, the way ARK reads them. The Parsed tab has the cards, the Files tab the raw GameUserSettings.ini, Game.ini and start file, and the Cloud tab shows which cards come from a cloud config.
  • Auto Config, on Linux servers and Windows servers made before Server Config: the same shared cards, plus a GameUserSettings.ini card and a Game.ini card for any setting without a card.

The cards by topic

  • Server & Access: Base Config (name, map, mods), Network Settings, Passwords, Mods, Player Role Settings, Cluster, Global Chat, ASA API.
  • Game Rules: Server Rules & Tribes, World & Time, Structures & Decay, Map & DLC Rules.
  • Players: Player Config, Rates & Experience, Player Stats, Players & Chat, Custom Levels.
  • Creatures & Breeding: Dino Settings, Creatures, Breeding, Dino Stats, Cryopods & Tames, Max Wild Dino Level, Dino Class Restrictions, Dino Class Multipliers, Dino Spawn Weights, NPC Replacements, Spawn Containers.
  • Items & Resources: Items & Crafting, Item Settings, Supply Crates, Item Max Quantity, Item Stat Clamps, Item Crafting Costs, Harvest Settings, Harvest Resource Multipliers, Crop Settings, Engram Overrides and Engram Auto Unlocks.
  • Operations: Server Operations, Advanced, Launch Arguments.

Rates & Experience, World & Time, Server Rules & Tribes and the other Server Config cards that have no Auto Config card are Windows only; on Linux those settings go into the GameUserSettings.ini or Game.ini card.

Find any setting

Type in the search box to find a setting by name, such as taming or stack, across all cards. Every card shows how many of its settings are set, and each setting's reset button returns it to the game's default.

Lists instead of class names

Cards that need a creature, item, resource or engram, such as Dino Spawn Weights, Item Max Quantity or Engram Auto Unlocks, let you pick it from a list instead of looking up its blueprint class name.

When changes apply

ARK reads its settings when it starts. Changes you save while the server runs take effect at the next restart; to undo one, change the value back.

Questions

Where are GameUserSettings.ini and Game.ini?

In the server's ShooterGame\Saved\Config\WindowsServer folder. With HaruHost you don't need to open them; in Server Config the Files tab shows both, from any browser.

Why did my setting reset after a restart?

ARK writes some values back while it runs. With Server Config, what you save in HaruHost is what the server starts with, so set values in HaruHost rather than in the files while the server runs.

Can several maps share the same settings?

Yes, with Cloud Config on Windows; see clusters and shared settings.
