V Rising server guide

Make a private V Rising server

Set a Password so only friends who know it can join, and turn off List On Steam and List On EOS to keep the server out of the public list. Friends still join with the invite code.

In Auto Config (Windows)

  • Password: asked for when a player joins.
  • List On Steam and List On EOS: turn both off to keep the server out of the in-game list.
  • Hide IP Address: hides the server's address from the EOS list.

On Linux

The same settings are Password, ListOnSteam and ListOnEOS in ServerHostSettings.json, which Configuration Files opens in the browser.

Keep people out

Ban anyone who shouldn't be there. A ban is by Steam ID, so a new character name doesn't get around it.

Questions

Can I change the password without a restart?

Yes. The RCON console's password command sets a new password while the server runs, and password --clear removes it. Change it in the settings as well so it stays after a restart.
