HaruHostWindows or Linux
- Windows, on the PC you play on or a spare one. Windows servers get Auto Config, Thunderstore mods, live player management and chat. See V Rising on Windows.
- Linux, on an Ubuntu VPS or home server. V Rising's dedicated server is made for Windows, and HaruHost runs it on Linux for you. See V Rising on Linux.
Either way you run the server from the desktop app or the web panel, on your phone too.
What HaruHost does for you
- Downloading the server: no SteamCMD and no Steam account. HaruHost downloads the V Rising dedicated server and updates it with one button.
- Settings: server name, password, player limit, presets and server FPS are fields in the app, and the game's settings files open in a browser editor. See server settings.
- Getting friends in: HaruHost shows the server's invite code, which changes at every start, and posts it to Discord. With the Tunnel, friends join without port forwarding, even behind CGNAT.
- Running it: restarts with warnings, updates, backups, kicks and bans from the app, the web panel or Discord.
Step by step
- Install HaruHost on Windows (download) or on Ubuntu (one command).
- Choose Add → New game server, pick the PC or server, then V Rising.
- Set the server name, the password and any other settings you want before the first start.
- On the Connection step, choose Tunnel to skip router setup, or Ports to use your own address.
- Create the server, wait for the download and start it. The first start creates the world.
- Copy the invite code from the server's details and send it to friends; see how friends join.
Questions
Do I need a Steam account to download the V Rising server?
No. HaruHost downloads the dedicated server from Steam for you, without a Steam account or SteamCMD.
Does the world keep running when I stop playing?
Yes. The server runs on its own, so your clan can play while you are offline. Castles keep their blood essence timers running too.
How many players can join?
Max Players goes up to 60 in Auto Config, and defaults to 10.
