What HaruHost does for you
- SteamCMD: not needed. HaruHost downloads the V Rising dedicated server, without a Steam account, and updates it with one button.
- Start file: no batch file to edit. The save, ports, log file and options are set in the manager, and HaruHost builds the start line.
- ServerHostSettings.json: the Auto Config page has its settings as fields: Server Name, Password, Max Players, Server FPS Target, Save Rotations, Game Settings Preset and more.
- Gameplay settings: loot, blood drain, castle and PvP rules live in ServerGameSettings.json; edit it in the browser with Manual Configuration. See server settings.
- Port forwarding: friends join through the Tunnel with no router setup. If you forward ports instead, HaruHost opens them on your router and in Windows Firewall once Auto-manage UPnP and Auto-manage Firewall are on.
- Mods: Thunderstore mod profiles you pick when the server starts. See mods.
Step by step
- Download HaruHost for Windows and sign in.
- Choose Add → New game server, pick this PC, then V Rising. Give the server a name.
- Set the server name, the password and the player limit.
- On the Connection step, choose Tunnel, or Ports to use your own address.
- Create the server, wait for the download and start it.
- Send friends the invite code from the server's details, and the password if you set one.
Only on Windows
On Windows, HaruHost adds a small server add-on of its own when the server starts, even without mods. It is what shows who is online with playtime and gear level, keeps the chat history, relays chat to Discord and kicks or bans players while the server runs. Thunderstore mods are Windows only too.
Questions
Can I host V Rising on the PC I play on?
Yes. The server runs next to your game. Join it with its invite code like everyone else.
Where are the server's settings files?
In the server's Settings folder. You don't need to find them; Auto Config writes them for you, and Manual Configuration opens them in the browser.
