HaruHost

Minecraft: Java Edition server guide

Install mods and modpacks on a Minecraft Java server

Choose a mod loader (Fabric, Forge, NeoForge or Quilt) for the server in HaruHost, then add mods or whole modpacks from Modrinth. HaruHost installs the loader and the mods, so you don't copy jars into the mods folder by hand. Mods are for Minecraft Java servers on Windows.

When you create the server

  1. After picking the Minecraft version, choose a Mod Loader, or Use No Mod Runtime for plain Minecraft.
  2. On Mods and Mod Packs, pick Modrinth mods or a modpack for that loader and version.
  3. Create the server; the mods are installed with it.

On an existing server

  1. Open the server's Modrinth Mods page and choose the Active Mod Loader.
  2. Press Add Mod or Add Mod Pack and search Modrinth. Each result shows whether it is needed on the server, on the player's side, or both.
  3. Restart the server to load them.

HaruHost warns when a mod is built for another Minecraft version, so a mismatch shows before the server crashes.

From Discord

The Discord bot adds and removes mods and modpacks, so admins change the mod list without opening the app.

Questions

Do players need the same mods?

For content mods, yes; for server-only mods such as performance mods, no. Each Modrinth result in HaruHost shows whether the player's side needs it.

Which loader should I pick?

The one the mods you want are built for. Modrinth lists the loaders each mod supports, and HaruHost filters by your server's loader.
