Valheim server guide

Valheim server settings and world modifiers

Open the server's Auto Config page in HaruHost. Pick a World Modifier Preset such as Casual, Hard or Hardcore, or set combat, death penalty, resources, raids and portals yourself, along with crossplay, the password and public listing. Changes apply at the next start, with no start script to edit.

World modifiers

  • World Modifier Preset: Normal, Casual, Easy, Hard, Hardcore, Immersive or Hammer.
  • Combat Difficulty: Very Easy to Very Hard.
  • Death Penalty: Casual to Hardcore.
  • Resource Abundance: Much Less to Most.
  • Raid Frequency: None to Much More.
  • Portal Restrictions: Casual, Hard or Very Hard.
  • No Build Cost, Player Events, Passive Mobs and No Map: one switch each.

Server settings

  • Server Name and World Name: a new name creates a new world, an existing name loads it.
  • Server Password and Public Server: turn Public Server off to keep the server out of the in-game list.
  • Enable Crossplay: lets players on other platforms join.
  • Save Interval: how often the world saves, 30 minutes by default.

Windows and Linux

The settings are the same on both. A Linux server created before Auto Config came to Linux keeps Manual Config, where you edit the start script in the browser, until you switch it.
