Install HaruHost
On Ubuntu (x86-64), run:
curl -fsSL https://haruhost.com/install.sh | sudo bash
HaruHost installs as a service. Sign in with the QR code it shows in your SSH session, then open the web panel from any browser.
What HaruHost does for you
- Docker: on Ubuntu, HaruHost installs and sets up Docker with one click when you create your first server.
- Java 25 and the downloader: not needed by hand. HaruHost runs Hytale's downloader and shows its sign-in link in the web panel.
- systemd and screen: not needed. HaruHost runs as a service and keeps the server running without an open SSH session.
- Getting friends in: with the Tunnel, friends join with Servers → Add Server and the Server Address, with no port forwarding.
- Settings: the server's start script opens in the browser on Manual Config, with the server memory at the top; Hytale's config.json is on the Files page.
Step by step
- Run the install command and sign in.
- In the web panel, choose Add → New game server, pick your Linux server, then Hytale.
- On the Connection step, choose Tunnel, or Ports to use the server's own address.
- Create the server. If Docker isn't installed yet, HaruHost asks first; press Install, then Create Server.
- Press Authenticate when the sign-in link shows, and confirm your account.
- Start the server, press Generate login link when it asks, and send friends the Server Address from the Details tab.
Open the ports
With the Tunnel, nothing needs to be opened. With Ports, open your port range for UDP in your VPS provider's firewall; HaruHost shows it under Devices → Manage device → Network Settings.
Questions
Do I have to keep an SSH session open?
No. HaruHost runs as a service, and you manage the server, and its sign-in link, from the web panel.
Can I see players and add mods on Linux?
The player list with playtime and CurseForge mods need a Windows server. On Linux you can add and remove bans while the server is stopped.
