Windows or Linux
- Windows, on the PC you play on or a spare one. The desktop app or the background service runs the server; see Hytale on Windows.
- Linux, on an Ubuntu VPS or home server. One command installs HaruHost as a service; see Hytale on Linux.
Either way you run the server from the desktop app or the web panel, on your phone too.
What HaruHost does for you
- The official downloader: HaruHost runs it for you and shows its sign-in link in the manager, then installs the server and updates it with one button.
- Java 25: nothing to install by hand. HaruHost sets up the Java the server needs.
- Server sign-in: when the server asks for your Hytale account, HaruHost shows the link and code, keeps them until you confirm, and can store the sign-in so you don't repeat it after a restart. See Hytale sign-in.
- Getting friends in: with the Tunnel, friends join without port forwarding, even behind CGNAT or on Starlink.
- Start scripts: nothing to write on Windows. Server name, password, world, game mode and memory are set in the manager.
- Players and mods on Windows: who is online with playtime, kick and ban, and CurseForge mods.
Step by step
- Install HaruHost on Windows (download) or on Ubuntu (one command).
- Choose Add → New game server, pick the PC or server, then Hytale.
- On the Connection step, choose Tunnel to skip router setup, or Ports to use your own address.
- Create the server. When Hytale authentication required opens, press Authenticate and confirm your account in the browser. The download then continues.
- Start the server. When it asks you to sign in, press Generate login link and confirm again.
- Send friends the Server Address from the server's Details tab.
Questions
Do I need to own Hytale to run a server?
Yes. Hytale's downloader and server both ask you to confirm a Hytale account, and HaruHost shows you the link each time.
Does my world keep running when I stop playing?
Yes. The server runs on its own, so friends can play while you are offline. On Linux and with the Windows background service it also runs without anyone signed in to the PC.
