How groups work
A new server starts with Admin, Friend and Guest groups. A player who enters the Admin password joins as an admin; one who enters the Guest password joins with the Guest rights.
What a group can do
- Can Kick/Ban Players: makes the group admins.
- Can Access Inventories: use chests and storage.
- Can Edit World and Can Edit Base: build, change bases and terraform.
- Can Extend Base: add, upgrade and remove Flame Altars.
- Reserved Slots: places held back for the group when the server is full.
Send the right password
- Open the server's Details tab. Each group is listed with its password, for example Friend Password.
- Copy the password for the group your friend should join as, and send it with the Server Address.
- In Enshrouded, your friend enters that password when joining.
Admins you share the server with see a group's password only if their permissions allow it; an admin group's password needs the admin-password permission.
Become admin yourself
Join with the Admin group's password. Keep it to the people you trust, and give everyone else the Friend or Guest password.
Questions
How do I become admin on my Enshrouded server?
Join with the password of a group that has Can Kick/Ban Players, the Admin group by default. HaruHost shows it on the server's Details tab.
Can I add my own groups?
Yes. Add a group on the User Groups page, give it a name, a password and its rights, and it shows on the Details tab next to the others.
Do I edit enshrouded_server.json for passwords?
No. User Groups sets them, on Windows and Linux, and HaruHost applies them at the next start.
