Arma 3 server guide

Host an Arma 3 server without port forwarding

Turn on the HaruHost Tunnel and your Arma 3 server gets a public address, with no router setup, even behind CGNAT, Starlink or mobile internet. On Windows, friends join it by the Server Address; when HaruHost runs as a service on Linux, they find it in Arma 3's server list by its Server Title.

When you need it

  • Your internet provider shares one public address between customers (CGNAT), as many mobile, Starlink and fiber providers do.
  • You can't change the router, for example in student housing.
  • You don't want to open ports on your home network or show your home address.

Turn it on

  1. Choose Add → New game server, pick the PC or server, then Arma 3. On the Steam Account step, pick or add the Steam account HaruHost downloads the server with.
  2. Choose Tunnel on the Connection step. For an existing server, turn the Tunnel on from its Details tab.
  3. Pick a region, or Closest region (automatic).
  4. Start the server and send friends the Server Address on Windows, or the Server Title on Linux; see how friends join.

On Linux

The Tunnel needs HaruHost running as a service, as the one-command install on Ubuntu sets it up:

curl -fsSL https://haruhost.com/install.sh | sudo bash

Sign in with the QR code it shows in your SSH session and create the server from the web panel. On Ubuntu, HaruHost sets up Docker for you when you create your first server.

Regions

Relays run in Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Africa and Oceania. See the Tunnel page for the full list.

Questions

Does the Tunnel add lag?

Traffic takes a detour through the relay, so pick the region closest to most players. For a home server behind CGNAT it is often the only way players can connect at all.

Why does HaruHost ask for a Steam account?

The Arma 3 dedicated server downloads with a Steam login. Save the account once in the wizard, and HaruHost uses it for installs and updates.
