Backups

Game server backups you can restore in one step

Back up a world on demand, on a schedule or before every update (paid plans), keep as many backups as you choose, and restore one in a single step. Backups stay on your own machine, in the folder you pick.

Backup profiles

A profile says what to back up, where to save it and how many backups to keep; older ones are removed. Save to any folder on the machine, such as a second drive.

On a schedule or before updates

Run a backup from an automation: every night, before a restart, or as soon as the game releases an update and before the server installs it. The automation can save the world first.

Automations

Restore in one step

Pick a backup and restore it. The world goes back to that moment, for a bad update, a griefed base or a world you want to replay.

Any folder, not only worlds

Device backups copy other folders on the machine, such as mod configs or a whole server folder, from the same automation.

Take a copy with you

Download the world as a ZIP from the Files page (paid plans), to keep a copy elsewhere or move it to another host.

Backups that know the game

Filters made for each game keep backups small, such as only player data or no extra dated world copies, and some games add their own backups. See the table below.

Game-specific backups

GameWhat you get
ARK: Survival AscendedSmaller backups
Keep a set number of backups, back up only player data, or skip ARK's extra dated world saves, so backups stay much smaller. Export a player's profile, and import up to 20 at once.
PalworldBackups and player saves
Backups with a keep count that skip Palworld's extra world copies; browse and restore Palworld's own backups. Export a player's save with their Pal storage and restore it into the same world.
Project ZomboidCharacter backups
Export a saved character and restore it to the same account and character slot on its server. The previous character is backed up, and other players are kept.

Every other game gets the backups above, with its world found for you.

Backup questions

Where are my backups stored?

On the machine that runs the server, in the folder you choose. They are not uploaded anywhere.

Do I have to stop the server to back it up?

No. An automation can save the world first and then back it up while the server keeps running.

Can I back up before every game update?

Yes. An automation can run when the game releases an update: back up first, then update and restart.

How many backups are kept?

As many as you set in the profile's keep count; older ones are removed. A keep count of 0 keeps every backup.
