How to join a Terraria dedicated server

In Terraria, choose Multiplayer → Join via IP, pick a character, then enter the server's address and port from HaruHost's Details tab, and the password if it has one.

Join by address

  1. Open the server in HaruHost and go to its Details tab.
  2. Copy the Server Address (address and port) and send it to your friends, with the password if you set one.
  3. In Terraria, your friends choose Multiplayer → Join via IP, pick a character, and enter the address and then the port.

Joining from the same house

Many home routers can't reach their own public address, so when you host on your own address, the PC next to the server can't join with the address you send friends. The Details tab lists a separate Local Address for players on the same network; it works on Windows and for servers without the Tunnel.

Friends without port forwarding

With the Tunnel on, the Server Address goes through HaruHost's relay, so friends join without any router setup. See hosting without port forwarding.

Questions

Where do I find my Terraria server's address?

On the server's Details tab in HaruHost, in the app or the web panel. The Local Address there is for players on your own network, on Windows or without the Tunnel.

Can tModLoader players join a Terraria server?

No. Modded players need a tModLoader server, which HaruHost runs too.
