Host a StarRupture dedicated server

Windows or Linux

• Windows, on the PC you play on or a spare one, with the desktop app or the background service.
• Linux, on an Ubuntu VPS or home server. StarRupture's dedicated server is made for Windows, and HaruHost runs it on Linux for you. With HaruHost running as a service, the Tunnel gives the server a public address with no port forwarding, even behind CGNAT.

Either way you run the server from the desktop app or the web panel, on your phone too.

What HaruHost does for you

• SteamCMD: not needed. HaruHost downloads the StarRupture dedicated server, without a Steam account, and updates it with one button.
• What the server needs: on Windows, Visual C++ 2015-2022. When it is missing, HaruHost offers to install it when you start the server.
• Wine and Proton: nothing to install or configure on Linux. HaruHost runs the Windows server there for you, and sets up Docker on Ubuntu with one click.
• Start file: no batch file to write. HaruHost builds the start line, and Manual Config opens the start file in the browser.
• Running it: restarts, updates and backups from the app, the web panel or automations, and start, stop, restart and update from the Discord bot.

Step by step

1. Install HaruHost on Windows (download) or on Ubuntu (the command below).
2. Choose Add → New game server, pick the PC or server, then StarRupture.
3. On the Connection step, choose Tunnel on a Linux server running HaruHost as a service, or Ports to use your own address.
4. Create the server, wait for the download and start it.
5. Copy the Server Address from the server's Details tab and send it to friends.

Install on Linux

On Ubuntu (x86-64), run:

curl -fsSL https://haruhost.com/install.sh | sudo bash

HaruHost installs as a service. Sign in with the QR code it shows in your SSH session, then open the web panel from any browser.

How friends join

Friends join by the Server Address from the Details tab. With the Tunnel on Linux, it is the Tunnel's public address, and nothing on your router needs to change.

With Ports, the server's ports must be reachable from the internet: on Windows, turn on Auto-manage UPnP and Auto-manage Firewall and HaruHost opens them when the server starts; on a VPS, open your port range in the provider's firewall.
