Windows or Linux
- Windows, on the PC you play on or a spare one. See Enshrouded on Windows.
- Linux, on an Ubuntu VPS or home server. Enshrouded's dedicated server is made for Windows, and HaruHost runs it on Linux with no Wine or Proton to set up; see Enshrouded on Linux.
Either way you run the server from the desktop app or the web panel, on your phone too.
What HaruHost does for you
- Downloading the server: no SteamCMD, no Steam account. HaruHost downloads the Enshrouded dedicated server and updates it with one button.
- What the server needs: on Windows, HaruHost installs Visual C++ with one click; on Linux, there is no Wine or Proton to set up.
- Getting friends in: with the Tunnel, friends join without port forwarding, even behind CGNAT or on Starlink.
- Settings and passwords: the server name, player slots and the Admin, Friend and Guest passwords are set in the manager, not in a file over remote desktop or SSH.
Step by step
- Install HaruHost on Windows (download) or on Ubuntu (one command).
- Choose Add → New game server, pick the PC or server, then Enshrouded.
- On the Connection step, choose Tunnel to skip router setup, or Ports to use your own address.
- Create the server. HaruHost downloads it.
- Set the server name and passwords, then start it. The first start creates your world.
- Send friends the Server Address from the server's Details tab, with the Friend or Guest password.
Questions
Do I need a Steam account to download the Enshrouded server?
No. HaruHost downloads the Enshrouded dedicated server from Steam for you, without a Steam account or SteamCMD.
Does the world keep running when I stop playing?
Yes. The server runs on its own, so friends can play while you are offline, and the world stays as they leave it.
