Join by address
- Open the server in HaruHost and go to its Details tab.
- Copy the Server Address (address and port) and the password, and send them to your friends.
- In Valheim, your friends choose a character, open Join Game, press Add server and paste the address.
- Valheim asks for the password when they connect.
Through the Tunnel on Linux
When HaruHost runs as a service on Linux, friends join a tunneled server with Join IP. They enter the Server Address from the Details tab and the password.
Joining from the same house
Many home routers can't reach their own public address, so when you host on your own address, the PC next to the server can't join with the address you send friends. The Details tab lists a separate Local Address for players on the same network; it works on Windows and for servers without the Tunnel.
With the Tunnel on Linux, players at home join with Join IP and the Server Address, like everyone else.
Friends without port forwarding
With the Tunnel on, the Server Address goes through HaruHost's relay, so friends join without any router setup. See hosting without port forwarding.
Questions
Where do I find my Valheim server's address?
On the server's Details tab in HaruHost, in the app or the web panel. The Local Address there is for players on your own network, on Windows or without the Tunnel.
Why can't I join my own Valheim server by its address?
Many home routers don't let a PC inside the house reach the house's public address, so on your own address, use the Local Address from the Details tab instead. Through the Tunnel on Linux, the Server Address works from your house too.
