Host a Valheim server without port forwarding

Turn on the HaruHost Tunnel and your Valheim server gets a public address through HaruHost's relay. Friends join with Join Game → Add server on Windows, or with Join IP when HaruHost runs as a service on Linux, with no router setup, even behind CGNAT, on Starlink or on mobile internet.

How it works

The Tunnel connects your server to a relay region near you. Players connect to the relay, and the relay passes the game traffic to your server. Your router needs no open ports, and your home address stays private.

Turn it on

  1. When you create the server, choose Tunnel on the Connection step. For an existing server, turn the Tunnel on from its Details tab.
  2. Start the server.
  3. Send friends the Server Address from the Details tab.

When you need it

  • Your internet provider uses CGNAT, so port forwarding can't work.
  • You play on Starlink, mobile data or a shared network you don't control.
  • You don't want to change router settings or show your home address.

Relay regions and the other games it supports are on the Tunnel page.

Questions

Can I host a Valheim server behind CGNAT?

Yes. With the Tunnel on, players connect to HaruHost's relay, which passes the traffic to your server, so CGNAT doesn't matter.

Does the Tunnel work on Linux?

Yes, when HaruHost runs as a service on Linux, as the one-command install sets it up. Friends join a tunneled Linux server with Join IP and the Server Address.
