HaruHost 0.63.0
Released .
Important: Please update to this release. When the middle number in 0.xx.0 changes, it means the release includes breaking changes. This release changes how backups are scheduled, so please read the Backups section below.
Game server import
Importing an existing game server is now much easier. The file browser opens in your HaruHost game server directory by default, and the Home button always takes you back there.
HaruHost now recognises existing servers while you browse. Both servers already managed by HaruHost and servers you installed yourself are detected. A recognised server is selected with a single click instead of being opened like a normal folder, and a status line below the browser tells you what was found. The selection screen has been redesigned to make choosing the right folder clearer.
Files
Each game server now has a Files page for moving files between your computer and the computer running your server.
- Upload files with the file picker or by dragging and dropping them onto the page.
- Download single files in their original format, or select several files and folders and download them together as a ZIP.
- Interrupted transfers can continue where they left off while the transfer is still active.
- Open and edit config files such as
.ini,.json,.cfg,.yamland.txtdirectly in the browser. Log files can be viewed. Editing requires the server to be stopped, because some games rewrite their config files when they shut down and would overwrite your changes.
Admins you have given access to a server need the new Download Files and Upload Files permissions to transfer files.
Automatic updates
Automation has a new Server update available trigger. HaruHost keeps an eye on new game server releases and checks them against what is actually installed on each server you select. When one of those servers is behind, the automation runs its actions for that server, once per new release.
Detecting an update does not install anything by itself. Add an Update action to install the release, and combine it with other actions you already use, for example a notification, a warning message, a backup and then the update. If HaruHost was offline when a release came out, your servers are caught up the next time it starts. Servers that are already up to date, or busy with something else, are skipped.
For Minecraft Java, you can choose between Any update and Patch release. Patch release only updates within the same version line, for example 1.21.3 to 1.21.11, and never jumps to a new major version.
This trigger requires any paid subscription.
Backups
Backups have been simplified. A game server backup is now just a name, the folder to back up (From), where to store it (To) and how many backups to keep (7 by default, 0 keeps all of them).
The separate backup schedules and file filters have been removed. The old backup screens were clunky to use and schedule, and Automation now handles scheduling in one place, so the same system works for everything. Filter presets will be added back later.
If you had scheduled backups before, please create an automation with a Backup action for them. Your existing backup configurations, their folders and your saved backups are kept, but their old schedules and filters no longer run. You can still run a backup manually, browse its history and restore it at any time.
Project Zomboid
Added Chat Logs and Discord Chat for Project Zomboid. Browse and search your server's chat history, and send server announcements from HaruHost. With Discord Chat, global and local player chat is forwarded to your Discord channel, and messages from Discord appear in game as server announcements.
ARK: Survival Ascended: Config Files
New ARK: Survival Ascended servers on Windows now use a new configuration system called Config Files. Instead of HaruHost generating your server's configuration, your server's own files (hh_start.bat, Game.ini and GameUserSettings.ini) are the single source of your settings. HaruHost reads them and shows them as settings cards.
- Much more supported: many more server settings are now available as cards, grouped into topics such as Server & Access, Game Rules, Players, Creatures & Breeding, Items & Resources and Operations. A search finds any setting across all of them.
- Cards and files stay in sync: switch between the Parsed tab, with its settings cards, and the Files tab, which shows the files themselves. A change in one shows up in the other immediately.
- Better imports: when you import an existing ASA server, HaruHost reads its config files directly, so your existing settings are kept as they are.
- Safe while running: changes you save while the server is running take effect the next time it starts.
There is no separate Manual or Auto Config choice for these servers anymore - PLEASE NOTE THIS IS EXPERIMENTAL. There is one way: HaruHost reads and edits your real config files. This also means configuration sharing between servers is not available for Config Files servers for now.
This approach is opinionated on purpose. Rather than trying to support every possible way a server could be configured, HaruHost understands config files the way the game reads them and keeps everything else in your files untouched. If you rely on a very specific setup that HaruHost does not show as a card yet, you can still edit it in the Files tab, or let me know and I'll look at adding it. I believe this makes HaruHost much easier to maintain and improve, and it should simply work for most servers.
This only applies to newly created or imported ARK: Survival Ascended servers on Windows. Your existing ARK servers keep using Auto Config or manual configuration exactly as before.
